Learn to Care for Your Dentures from Gillooly Denture Clinics

Just like you care for your natural teeth, taking care of your dentures is important to your health, and it’s also necessary to protect your investment.

Clean Your Dentures and Mouth Daily

Cleaning your dentures daily with a denture brush and soaking them in a cleanser solution will help keep your dentures looking white and bright while preventing plaque buildup and denture odour.

Rinse and brush your dentures in clean, warm water with a denture brush. But don't brush too hard – you don't want to damage any plastic or metal parts of the denture. If needed, moisten the denture brush to avoid damages or scratches to the denture surface.

Brush your gums, tongue, and natural teeth with fluoride toothpaste before reinserting your dentures. This will help remove plaque from your teeth, stimulate circulation in your mouth, and help maintain good oral health.

Never try to adjust your dentures yourself. This may cause harm to your mouth or damage to your dentures.

Gillooly Denture Clinics offers a few more tips to care for your dentures:

  • Rinse your dentures after each meal, and rinse your mouth before replacing them.
  • Take your dentures out every day for a brief time and always overnight.
  • Store them in a water-filled plastic container called a denture bath.
  • Soak your dentures for 30 minutes every night to cleanse away all organisms.
  • Handle your dentures over a sink. Let a hand cloth float in 3-inch level of water to cushion the dentures if they are accidentally dropped.

Visit your denture professional regularly. Rely on him/her for advice and answers to specific questions about your oral care.
